📘 About the Role
The Center for Student Achievement Solutions is hiring experienced K–3 literacy experts to serve as Literacy Coach Consultants in NYC public schools. This is a contract role offering on-site coaching, job-embedded professional development, and the opportunity to impact early literacy instruction at scale.
We are looking for passionate educators who are experts in the Science of Reading and have hands-on experience teaching phonics through structured literacy programs like UFLI, Heggerty, or Fundations.

- You’ve taught grades K–3 within the past 10 years
- You have direct classroom experience using at least one of the following:
- UFLI Foundations
- Heggerty / Bridge the Gap
- ISME Orton-Gillingham
- Preventing Academic Failure (PAF)
- Fundations
- Really Great Reading
- You’ve provided PD or coaching on early literacy practices
- You are based in NYC and available for on-site school visits
- You’re not currently employed by the NYC DOE
💼 What You’ll Do
- Deliver on-site coaching aligned with school and district literacy goals
- Model and co-plan lessons based on the Science of Reading
- Facilitate 1:1 coaching sessions and team-level PD workshops
- Support implementation of phonics and intervention programs
- Analyze classroom data (e.g., Acadience, mCLASS) and support data-driven instruction
- Build teacher capacity through reflective practice and actionable feedback
🎓 What You’ll Need
Required Qualifications for Literacy Coach Consultant
- Master’s degree in Literacy, Special Education, or Curriculum and Instruction
- 5+ years of K–3 classroom experience within the past 10 years
- 3+ years of coaching or professional development facilitation
- Deep expertise in the Science of Reading
- Proficient in diagnostic and progress-monitoring tools
- Must be fingerprinted and approved in the NYC DOE PETS system
